Grant Programs

The Multimodal Planning Grant Program provides funding to state, regional, and local staff to collect data, and develop implementable plans that advance context sensitive solutions; bicycle, pedestrian, and transit alternatives; compact urban design; access management; coordination of land use and transportation efforts; congestion reduction; and community visions of a balanced, multimodal transportation system. The program encourages intergovernmental cooperation, regional planning, public-private partnerships, and coalitions. Eligible applicants include the following:  

  • Metropolitan Planning Organizations
  • Planning District Commissions
  • Local governments
  • Local or regional transit agencies
  • Transportation authorities or commissions

Contact the modal agency in which the proposed project falls and that agency will work with the Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment to consider grant rewards.
